MEETINGS; MINUTES: ------------------------------------------------------
Unapproved
Minutes, Annual Membership Meeting held at Jorgensen
Meeting Center / Helena, Montana
November 5, 2011
The meeting was called to order by President Cindy Fonger.
The Treasurers report was reviewed and approved.
Old Business topics covered were Cook Book Sales, the MTApHC web
page, and the viability of a stand alone or partnership 2012 MTApHC
Show.

If you are interested in purchasing a MTApHC Cookbook, contact Kim
Dishman.
Kim Dishman reports Cook Book sales
have tapered way down due to the initial diligence of member sales,
and members still having books on hand need to try to get sales
utilizing seasonal venues. While the sales have paid the cost of
the printing and generated a return, there are still many books
to sell to help the MTApHC account. MTApHC Royalty could be a big
help in making more sales if they are able to attend horse activities
and possibly have a table to attract buyers to. A list of Royalty
addresses, and the availability of cook books, needs to be attempted
and Royalty addresses sent to Kim Dishman to coordinate.
Linda Threlkeld reported being in touch with the lady that has re-established
the MTApHC web site. Members and officers need to make sure that
they send information to post on the web site to Donna Grace weblackey@yahoo.com
or to Kim Dishman @ heritageapys@aol.com.
Members really need to get the information to Donna before April
2012, as that is the end of the year set up and we will incur more
fees if there is too much added after this date. The MTApHC site
can be updated periodically after this time if the changes are small
scale. Officers of the MTApHC need to get a photo sent in to post
on the web site.
{Actually, don't worry about this, just get
the info to me as you get it... I am not watching the calendar.
In fact, my goal is to achieve a higher quality website over time
as I study more, so this is not an issue for me. ~DG}
The status of the annual horse show
was addressed, since the 2011 show was canceled due to the EHV-1
virus outbreak. After much serious discussion it was voted by the
membership to bow out of the Jewel of the Big Sky (June 23 &
24 in Billings)and pledge to assist the Eastern MT ApHC with our
support but not to interfere with their plans. As part of the discussion,
the Great Falls State Fair Show was considered as a venue for the
MTApHC show. The combined horse show at the State Fair was found
to be a more cost effective endeavor and membership voted to split
50/50 on holding the 2012 Montana State Show with the Western MT
ApHC at the Great Falls State Fair - August 4 & 5,2012. This
show give MTApHC members a little more needed time to acquire donations/sponsorships
to help fund the reasonable fees of the combined breed show.
After the vote to join the State Fair combined horse breed show
and discussion of funding and the limits on our present funds, member
Dan Gervais started the coffers with a very generous donation to
the show. Members are encouraged to start now to get donations/sponsorships.
A show committee was formed with Anita Wilson as Chairperson and
John Wilson, Steve Graham, Kim Graham and Jan Phillips as show committee
members with input from all members sought.
New Business was then addressed.
It was proposed that the by-laws be upgraded and refined/simplified
to permit an easier, user friendly format. A committee was formed
to send out a copy of the current by-laws and the proposed upgraded
simplifications for review.
Members also clarified the definition for MTApHC "Family Membership"
as being related and abiding in the same household. It was also
felt that there needed to be a 13 and under membership fee. It was
voted to add a 13 and Under membership fee of $5.00 per youth, snf
s 14-18 youth membership to be $10.00.
Anita Wilson suggested a newsletter for the information updates
on the meeting and a Dues reminder!
Elections were next on the agenda, and the results are at the top
of this page.
The meeting was adjourned and members looked forward to the awards
and banquet dinner following the adjournment.
Next Directors Meeting was tentatively scheduled for January 7,
2012 at Wheat Montana @ 10:00 a.m. |

The Montana Appaloosa Horse Club is a regional
affiliate of the international breed registry for Appaloosa Horses,
Appaloosa
Horse Club, headquartered in Moscow, Idaho. The Montana
Appaloosa Horse Club was organized in the early 1950's and is
one of the oldest regional clubs with continued existence. The
Montana Club (MTApHC) covers the entire state of Montana and is
probably one of the largest geographic regional Appaloosa clubs
in the nation. In addition to members throughout Montana, Appaloosa
owners from Northern Wyoming and Eastern Idaho have also been
members.
Because there are lots of miles between members, the MTApHC has
only one annual membership meeting, usually in October. However,
the Directors meet regularly to conduct the Club's business.
A major project of the Montana Appaloosa Horse Club is producing
the annual Montana Appaloosa Show. In the early years, the show
was rotated around the state. More recently, it has been either
in Bozeman, Helena or Billings.
To many people, their Appaloosa horses are their recreation. They
use their Appaloosas in the show ring, as 4-H projects, competitive
trail riding and just plain recreational riding. Some use Appaloosas
for their routine ranch work and others are into serious competitive
activities such as barrel racing, roping, team penning, cutting
and even horse racing.
There are currently several smaller local Appaloosa clubs that
function within the Montana Appaloosa Horse Club. Members of these
clubs actively promote Appaloosas in their communities. They participate
in parades, assist the 4-H horse program, and support their local
Horse Fairs. They are quite involved in trail riding/judged trail
rides and other social activities. The work force for the Annual
Montana Appaloosa Show comes from members of these clubs:
Vigilante Appaloosa Club: Members are mostly
from the Helena Valley. Members meet the 3rd Tuesday of each
month at the Grub Steak at 6:30 pm, Helena. Contact person is
Cindy Fonger at 406-449-2009.
Five
Valley Appaloosa Club: covers the Missoula area. Contact
person is Jan Phillips.
Mountain
Country Appaloosa Club: covers the Bozeman/Livingston
area. Contact person is Kim
Dishman.
Eastern
Montana Appaloosa Club: covers the Billings area.
Meetings are usually held the first Monday each month, 6:30
pm in Billings. Contact person is Lesli
Glen.
